WHY LIGHTING DESIGN MATTERS
“My DJ Comes With Free Lights.”
And Here’s the Difference.
For a luxury wedding or a polished corporate event, there is a meaningful difference between DJ lights and professional lighting design. Design means your room has a cohesive visual environment and not just colored lights behind the speaker. It means your uplighting matches your floral palette, your first dance is lit to look beautiful on camera and in person, and your speeches are spotlit at the right intensity for your photographer.
Royal AV programs a complete lighting plot for every event with custom scenes for cocktail hour, dinner, first dances, toasts, and open dancing. Each moment in your evening has a different lighting cue, pre-programmed and triggered by our operator at exactly the right time. That's not what a DJ's free lights do.
Integrated with your full production
When you book lighting through Royal AV, it's designed as part of your complete production; coordinated with your DJ cues, LED video wall content, and event timeline. Your lighting operator and DJ work from the same run-of-show. No miscommunication between vendors mid-event.
LIGHTING SERVICES
Every Light. Every Moment.
Custom Designed.
Every lighting element Royal AV installs is designed specifically for your venue, your color palette, and your event timeline. Here's what we bring to your event.
Stage Wash & Leko Lighting
For corporate keynotes, wedding ceremonies, panel discussions, and any event where speakers need to look polished on camera and in person, we use high-CRI Leko fixtures for clean, accurate stage wash. High color rendering index means your speakers look natural under the lights, which matters for both live photography and any recorded or live streamed footage.
Pin Spotting & Centerpiece Lighting
Narrow-beam pin spot fixtures direct focused beams of warm white light directly onto your centerpieces, floral arrangements, cake table, and buffet displays making them glow and creating visual depth that perimeter lighting alone can't achieve. Pin spotting is one of the most underused lighting elements and one of the most impactful in event photography.
Pixel Mapping & Special Effects
Modular pixel-mapped LED bars for dynamic stage backdrops, architectural highlights, and draping accents paired with atmospheric haze, cold spark machines, and confetti for the moments that make an entire room react. Our special effects are timed precisely to your music cues and programmed as part of your lighting show, not added on as an afterthought.
Wireless LED Uplighting
Battery-powered, cable-free uplights placed around your venue perimeter to wash walls and architectural features in your chosen colors. No unsightly cables, no trip hazards - just a clean architectural glow that transforms any ballroom or event space. Available in any color and programmable for dynamic scene transitions throughout your event.
Custom Monogram & Gobo Projection
Project your name, initials, wedding monogram, or corporate logo onto your venue walls, floor, or dance floor using precision gobo fixtures. Custom-cut gobos are available for unique designs, patterns, and textures adding depth and personalization to any space. A centerpiece moment for your dance floor that photographs beautifully.
Intelligent Moving Head Systems
Our advanced automated moving head fixtures offer surgical control over movement, color, beam angle, and texture, and they're custom-programmed to your event's timeline. Beam fixtures for high-impact aerial effects during a grand entrance, wash fixtures for broad color saturation across a large ballroom, and spot fixtures for crisp gobo projections and sharp-focused stage moments.
WHO WE DESIGN FOR
Wedding Lighting.
Corporate Lighting.
Two Different Disciplines.
Lighting a wedding reception and lighting a corporate keynote require completely different approaches, different fixtures, different color science, different design goals. Royal AV specializes in both.
WEDDINGS & PRIVATE EVENTS
Wedding Lighting Design
Wedding lighting is about emotion. It's about creating a visual environment that makes your venue feel like it was designed specifically for you and ensuring every moment from cocktail hour through last dance is lit beautifully for your photographer and your guests.
We collaborate with your wedding planner, florist, and decorator to ensure our lighting enhances your design vision rather than competing with it. Your color palette informs our fixture programming. Your florals guide our pin spot placement. Your timeline dictates our scene sequence.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Before You Reach Out.
The questions we hear most from Seattle couples and event planners about professional lighting design. Call us directly at (206) 580-3040 if yours isn't here.
-
Wedding lighting in Seattle varies based on the venue size, number of fixtures, services included, and event duration. A simple uplighting package for a smaller venue is priced very differently from a full intelligent lighting design with moving heads, pin spotting, custom monogram, and special effects for a 500-person ballroom. We provide detailed, transparent quotes broken down by service so you understand exactly what you're getting.
-
For many events, a DJ's lighting package is adequate especially for smaller or more casual celebrations. For luxury weddings, multicultural productions, corporate events, or any event where photography and videography quality matters, a dedicated lighting design makes a significant and visible difference. Our lighting is custom-programmed with individual scenes for each moment of your event, not a pre-set show running on autopilot. When you book Royal AV, your DJ and lighting operator work as one integrated team from the same run-of-show.
-
Yes, this is one of the core benefits of professional LED uplighting over conventional fixtures. Our wireless LED uplights use full-spectrum RGBWA color mixing, meaning we can dial in virtually any color from exact Pantone matches for corporate branding to subtle warm blush tones for a romantic reception. We calibrate colors based on your venue's walls, ceilings, and ambient light conditions so what you see on the night matches your expectations.
-
Yes, for most productions we create a 3D visualization of your venue with your lighting design in place so you can see and approve the full layout before we arrive. This is especially useful for couples who want to confirm how uplighting colors will complement their florals, or for planners who need to visualize stage placement for a corporate event. It removes the guesswork and ensures the day-of experience matches your vision.
-
For weddings, we recommend 9–12 months for peak summer dates (May–October), as popular venues and weekends book our calendar early. For corporate events, 4–8 weeks is typically sufficient for most productions. If your date is sooner than these windows, reach out anyway, we occasionally have last-minute availability and will always be straightforward about what's possible.
-
Ideally, yes and this is where booking everything through Royal AV gives you a significant advantage. When your lighting designer and DJ work for the same company, they share a run-of-show document, communicate directly throughout your event, and program lighting cues that are synchronized with your music timeline. If you're bringing in a separate DJ, we coordinate with them in advance to ensure our lighting cues align with their timeline; we're experienced at working across vendor teams.
